Jo Thomson is an experimental photographer, based in Ontario, working with both analogue and digital mediums. Jo obtained a BA in Photography at the London College of Arts, UK, and has worked in the creative commercial environment for over 20 years.
In 2020, during pandemic restrictions, Jo embarked on a journey to rediscover her love of analogue and the magic of darkroom processes. She built a darkroom, sourced photographic materials and began experimenting with cameraless techniques and traditional printing methods. The resulting body of work is inspired by nature, organic forms and textures, and features foraged botanicals found on her rural property.
Jo's work ultimately aims to elevate ordinary objects into things of beauty. 'looking at your work makes me feel calm, focussed on nature and on only the important things in life' (recent private client)
